The multitalented Keenen Ivory Wayans was the driving
force behind this comedy-variety series that served as a
mostly black Saturday Night Live, featuring biting satircal
parodied of movies, TV shows, commercials, and celebrities.
In Living Color was a fast-paced show featuring a versatile
repertory cast--including four members of Keenen's family--
and an energetic group of dancers known as The Fly Girls.
Over the years there were changes. Starting in 1992 most
episodes opened with spoofs of music videos. Later in
the year Keenen Ivory Wayans, in late 1992, left the show,
and within a year so did his entire family. In the fall of 1993
Jim Carrey became the star of the show and Jamie Foxx,
as horny Wanda Wayne, the most popular supporting
actor. No longer did guest rap musicians close each
episode, and almost half of the regular cast was white.
